Pack Like a Pro !!!

Quick and Easy Gift Packing & Wrapping

  1. Gift wrap costs money so to avoid waste, always measure your wrapping paper first and trim off the excess. To give you an idea of how much you need, wrap a length of string/ribbon around the gift, then lay the string/ribbon on the gift wrap and cut it to the required length.
  2. To make sure that you get a nice straight line when cutting wrapping paper, mark the paper at the edge of the sheet and fold it – then simply cut along the crease.
  3. Another waste tip – Keep the wrapping paper and ribbon off-cuts. Everyone has a small, last minute gift to wrap and usually has to open a new roll of wrapping paper. Also odd lengths of ribbon come in handy to secure giftwrap in place e.g. at the neck of a bottle.
  4. To protect a fragile gift, make free decorative packing by putting some tissue paper through your home shredder to create a protective cushion.
  5. If you don’t have enough paper to cover your gift, make a ‘pleat’ with another piece of paper. You can always make a feature of it by centering it on top of the gift. You could be really creative by mixing and matching colours, patterns and designs!
  6. When curling ribbon, remember to do so with scissors shut. Follow the natural curl of the ribbon when pulling it between your scissors and thumb. But be careful !!

But the most important packing advice we can give you is to ensure that you have a great time and “pack in” as much time with family and friends as you can !!

Roasting vegetables caramelises them which brings out their full rich flavour, and gives them a sweetness that is delicious.

Ingredients:

8 Tablespoons Olive Oil

½ Kilo Sweet Potatoes, Peeled, Cut Into 4cm Pieces

2 Cups Swede, Peeled, Cut Into 2cm Pieces

2 Cups Parsnips, Peeled, Cut Into 2cm Pieces

1 Turnip, Peeled, Cut Into 2cm Pieces

2 Tablespoons Fresh Thyme, Chopped

2 Tablespoons Fresh Rosemary, Chopped

Salt And Pepper

Dressing: (Optional)

4 Tablespoons Olive Oil

4 Tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar

1/2 Cup Fresh, Chopped Parsley

1 Teaspoon Grated Lemon Rind, Chopped

Salt And Pepper

Directions:

Preheat the oven to Gas Mark 7 (425 degrees F).

Cover two large baking sheets with aluminium foil.

In a large bowl, mix together the vegetables, fresh herbs, salt and pepper, and 8 tablespoons of olive oil.

Mix well so the vegetables are lightly coated in the oil.

Lay the vegetables on the prepared baking sheets, and roast in the hot oven for 45 to 50 minutes, turning occasionally, or until the vegetables are browned and fork tender.

Remove from the oven and allow the vegetables to come to room temperature.

Mix together the dressing ingredients, and drizzle the dressing over the vegetables.

Toss to mix, and serve.

Buon Appetito!
